Reading Initiatives at M.S.#4
Literacy is a foundational skill that empowers individuals, opening doors to education, critical thinking, and lifelong learning. Recognizing its importance, we have launched several initiatives to foster a love of reading and make books accessible to everyone in our school community. Our Free Little Libraries offer a continuous supply of books that students and families can borrow and exchange, promoting literacy beyond the classroom. The book vending machine adds an exciting element to book selection, where students can earn tokens to choose their next read, making books feel like a reward and encouraging regular reading. The Book Nook provides a cozy space dedicated to reading for pleasure, encouraging students to explore diverse genres and authors. For our educators, the Falcon Teachers Book Club offers a chance to engage with literature together, modeling a reading culture and discussing books in ways that enrich classroom instruction. Each of these initiatives brings our school closer to a community where reading is accessible, valued, and celebrated.
